Purpose
The purpose of this page is to notify our congregation and other interested parties in upcoming legislation in Colorado and nationally to consider writing, calling, emailing, and/or signing petitions for issues that we at Living Light of Peace deem central to our core beliefs. As a member of our community, you do not have to do any of these things or all of them. We are providing a space for action items to be posted, reviewed, and if you wish acted upon as you see fit. In this, we try to practice religion without force or manipulation.
CFCU Info and Prayer Walk
The Safe Haven program will be holding a Prayer Walk this Thursday, March 13 at 3:00 in Washington Park (Franklin Street parking lot) detailed in the attached flyer. Since CFCU is exploring a working relationship with this program, we hope those of you in central Denver will be able to join us and show your support. I live a block from a random shooting in the park several weeks ago on a sunny, Sunday afternoon; CFCU member Epiphany Lutheran is located just a block away as well. I plan to attend so please let me know if you can be there.

In Mennonite Action’s local organizing toolkit, you can find resources for organizing local actions in your own community.
Support or keep up-to-date with what Mennonite Action is doing right now, especially for calling for cease-fires in Gaza. https://www.mennoniteaction.org/
Join us on our next mass call on Thursday, February 20 at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT to hear important updates from our movement and learn how you can take action for Palestine, for our undocumented neighbors, and for the safety of our communities.
Online Petitions
Block Donald Trump’s Attempts to Abolish the Department of Education
Sign the petition: Don’t let Trump destroy the U.S. Postal Service!
Tell Congress: Stand up to the coup at the Environmental Protection Agency!
Dean Treaner of Georgetown law just stood up to Trump by refusing to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from their curriculum. As a Catholic and Jesuit university, Georgetown is protected by the First Amendment to teach their students the ways of Catholic teaching such as honoring and loving people of all backgrounds and cultures — which DEI curriculum addresses. Sign to show your support for those that stand up for others.

Know Your Rights
People want to know how to protect their students, employees, and loved ones while following the law. Parents are afraid of being separated from their children. Neighbors want to help but don’t always know how.
In response, my team and I have been putting together a comprehensive guide to Immigration Rights & Resources to provide clear, reliable information about what to do if you see or experience ICE activity, how to prepare, and where to find help.
Our community is strongest when we stand together. Whether you need help, want to support those impacted, or simply want to stay informed, I encourage you to explore these resources and share them with others. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
All the best,
Senator Lindsey Daugherty
Senate District 19
