“The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.” – Genesis 2:15
At Living Light of Peace Church, we believe that caring for creation is a vital expression of our faith and responsibility as stewards of God’s earth. Our commitment to climate justice is rooted in love for our neighbors, future generations, and the beauty of the natural world.

Nurturing Community Through Gardening
Our Community Food Garden and Food Forest are vibrant, living symbols of hope and nourishment. In partnership with Denver Urban Gardens, we cultivate fresh produce that is free for the community to enjoy. These spaces foster connection, promote food security, and support biodiversity in our urban environment.
Why it matters: Community gardens not only provide fresh, healthy food but also strengthen relationships, enhance urban green spaces, and reduce the environmental impact of transporting food over long distances.

Harnessing the Power of the Sun
In the fall of 2024, we installed solar panels to reduce our carbon footprint and embrace clean, renewable energy. By utilizing the power of the sun, we aim to significantly lower our energy consumption, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and set an example for sustainable living within our community.
Why it matters: Transitioning to renewable energy helps combat climate change, reduces reliance on fossil fuels, and demonstrates how communities of faith can lead the way in environmental stewardship.

Welcoming the Buzz of Life
We’ve installed a bee hive to support pollinators, which are critical to our food system and the health of our ecosystems. Bees help sustain biodiversity and ensure the growth of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Our hive is a reminder of the interconnectedness of all living things and the importance of protecting even the smallest creatures.
Why it matters: Pollinators are essential to life on earth, yet their populations are declining due to habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change. By providing a safe space for bees, we’re contributing to their survival and educating our community about their vital role.
